Play Ludo online with friends

Race your four tokens around the board and home, knocking rivals back to their yard on the way.

Ludo is the family race game for 2 to 4 players. Everyone has four tokens in their corner yard. Roll a 6 to bring one out, move around the board, and land on a rival to send it back to the start. The first player to get all four tokens into the centre wins. Here you play it in the browser with friends on any device, or against bots.

The host picks the house rules before the game: race 1, 2 or all 4 tokens home, leave the yard on a 6 or on a 6 or 1, and turn blocks on so two tokens of one colour make a wall. Bonus rolls for captures and for reaching home are on by default, and three sixes in a row end your turn.

Why play Ludo here

How to play Ludo

  1. Start in the yard

Each player has four tokens in their coloured corner. With two players you sit in opposite corners.

  2. Roll a 6 to come out

A token leaves the yard onto your start square when you roll a 6 (or a 1 too, if the host allows it).

  3. Move clockwise

Roll the die and move one token that many squares. A 6 gives you another roll.

  4. Capture rivals

Finish your move on a rival token to send it back to its yard. Start squares and star squares are safe.

  5. Enter your home lane

After almost a full lap, each token turns into its own coloured lane. You need the exact number to reach the centre.

  6. Get everyone home

The first player to bring all four tokens home wins, or 1 or 2 tokens in a shorter game.

Ludo questions

How do you play Ludo online with friends?

Open a Ludo table and share the code or invite link. Friends open it in their browser on a phone or computer and take a seat, and bots can fill any seats left over. Then each player rolls in turn, moves a token, and tries to get all four home first.

Do you need a 6 to start in Ludo?

By default, yes. A token only leaves the yard when you roll a 6, and the 6 still gives you another roll. The host can change this so a 1 also brings a token out, which makes the start of the game faster.

What happens if you roll three sixes in Ludo?

With the three sixes rule on, which is the default, a third 6 in a row ends your turn at once and that roll is not used. The host can turn this rule off in the lobby, and then you keep rolling for as long as you throw sixes.

Which squares are safe in Ludo?

The four coloured start squares and the four star squares are safe. Nobody can be captured there, so tokens of different colours can share them. Your home lane is safe too, because only your colour can enter it.

Can two people play Ludo?

Yes. Ludo takes 2 to 4 players. With two, you sit in opposite corners. You can also add bots to make a four-player game, or play alone against three bots.

How do I make a quick game of Ludo?

Set "Tokens to finish" to 1 or 2 in the lobby. The first player to get that many tokens home wins, which cuts a game down to a few minutes. Leaving the yard on a 6 or a 1 speeds it up further.

Is this Ludo game free, and does it work on phones?

It is free, with no download and no account needed, and it works in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. Players on different devices can share one board. Signing in with an email is optional and saves your results.
