Settle a hex island, trade for what you lack, and be first to ten points.
- 2 to 6 players
- 45 to 90 minutes
- Big island for 5 to 6
- Bots fill empty seats
Timber & Ore is a hex island settle and trade game for 2 to 6 players. You roll two dice each turn, and every settlement next to a hex with that number collects timber, clay, wool, grain or ore. Spend them on roads, settlements, cities and development cards, and trade with the other players for what you are missing. The first to 10 points wins.
The island can be random and balanced, fully random, or a fixed beginner layout. With 5 or 6 players the game switches to a bigger island with extra harbours and a build phase between turns. Bots fill empty seats and trade with you, either cooperatively or in a cutthroat style that never helps the leader.

How to play Timber & Ore
Place two settlements
Each player places a settlement and a road, then a second pair in reverse order. The second settlement collects one card from each hex around it.
Roll for resources
Roll two dice. Every settlement next to a hex with that number takes 1 card of its resource, and every city takes 2.
Watch for the 7
A 7 brings out the Bandit. Anyone with more than 7 cards discards half, and the roller moves the Bandit to block a hex and steals a card.
Trade
After rolling, trade with other players, or with the bank at 4 to 1. Harbours give you 3 to 1 or 2 to 1 trades.
Build
Spend cards on roads, settlements, cities and development cards. A settlement is worth 1 point and a city 2.
Reach 10 points
Longest Road and Largest Army are worth 2 points each. The first player to reach 10 points on their own turn wins (12 with two players).
Tips
- Start next to 6s and 8s with a mix of resources.
- Grain and ore build cities, and cities double your income. Plan a way to get both.
- Try to end your turn with 7 cards or fewer so a 7 does not cost you half your hand.

Timber & Ore questions
How do you play Timber & Ore?
Each player starts with two settlements on a hex island. On your turn you roll two dice, and every building next to a hex with that number collects its resource. Then you trade and build roads, settlements and cities. Settlements score 1 point, cities 2, and the first player to 10 points on their turn wins.
Is this like other hex island settle and trade games?
Yes. Timber & Ore follows the familiar pattern of the hex island settle and trade genre: five resources, a robber-style Bandit on a 7, harbours, development cards, Longest Road and Largest Army. It has its own names, art and card set, and several options you can change in the lobby.
How many players can play Timber & Ore?
From 2 to 6 players. With 5 or 6 the game uses a bigger island with 30 hexes, 11 harbours and a build phase between turns. With 2 players the target rises to 12 points and the Friendly Bandit is on. Bots fill any empty seats.
What happens when someone rolls a 7?
Nobody collects resources. Anyone holding more than 7 cards discards half of them, rounded down. The player who rolled moves the Bandit to a new hex, which stops producing, and steals one random card from a player with a building there.
Can I trade with bots?
Yes. You can offer a trade to everyone or to chosen players, and bots accept, decline or counter just like people do. The host picks cooperative bots, or cutthroat bots that only take clearly good deals and never help whoever is ahead.
Is Timber & Ore free, and do I need an account?
It is free, and you need no account or download. Open a table, share the code or invite link, and friends join in their browser. Email sign-in is optional and saves your results and favourite games.
Can I play Timber & Ore on my phone?
Yes. The island scales to phones, tablets and desktop screens, and players on different devices can share a table. The host can pause a long game and resume it later.
